Are you thinking about remodeling your kitchen? If you answered yes, you want to make sure that you are on board with the newest kitchen trends in 2018. If you don't pay attention to design trends, you may still think that gold and avocado green are in style and no one wants that - can I get an amen!
As a designer, I keep up with all the latest trends so I can present all of my clients with the latest innovations in home design. To do so, I collaborate with many other designers and follow some of their work as well. Today, I want to share kitchen trends to watch for in 2018. To help me out with this I will be sharing some of my friends and favorite designers to watch and follow.
Kitchen Trends in 2018 #1 Quality Cabinets
Quality Cabinets are always in style and that's why they're always worth talking about. Unfortunately, not all homes have quality cabinets, though. No matter if you are buying a new home or remodeling you want to make sure your home has quality cabinets. My friend Dixie Willard knows all about that as she recently had a bit of a catastrophe in her own home when she had a flooded kitchen.
She tells all about her cabinet misfortune on her blog post from her company Dixie Willard Designs. You can go here to read about how owning quality cabinets saved her money when disaster stuck. Dixie describes that when cabinet boxes are made of real wood and not particle board that if accidents actually happen then you have a chance of saving your cabinets without the high cost of replacement. Click over to Dixie's blog for more details you need to look for when choosing cabinets.
Kitchen trends in 2018 begins with #2 Tuxedo Kitchens
You may think that tuxedos are only for weddings. I have a surprise for you - they're actually very trendy for kitchens now, too! My design friend Kathleen Jennison over at KTJ Design Co. just wrote a blog post recently on how fabulous tuxedo kitchens really are with their classic colors of black and white.
She tells how the style looks great when accented with gold accent hardware (if you weren't aware, gold is on the rise again). She even tells how this look is great for small kitchens with the black cabinets on bottom and white cabinets on top will make the area look lighter and brighter. Go here to read her blog about this style kitchen.
Kitchen trends in 2018 #3 Quartz Countertops
We all know that solid surface countertops are very popular countertops for kitchen and bathrooms. But did you know that quartz countertops are even better? If you're unaware of why check out my friend Jill Ornelas and her blog post for her company Ambiance Interior Design.
She gives details in her post about the benefits of quartz over granite. She also tells about how easy to maintain quartz is as it does not have to be sealed like granite. Read on for more reasons why - go here to read her full blog post.
Kitchen trends in 2018 #4 Subway Tile Is Out
Gone are the day of the humdrum subway tile trend. Time to spice it up a bit with some texture, color and unique patterns for kitchen backsplashes. This will give homeowners a chance to show off their style a bit more with creative patterns that will create movement. The texture will add a new dimension to the kitchen. This will give you a versatile and long-lasting choice.

We are in the days where less is more. Kitchens are no exception, with limited countertop space and the increase of technology. We find that today's kitchens are full of all kinds of gadgets that make our lives easier. However, they will also provide lots of clutter. In order to maintain a clean minimalist look, it is necessary to provide extra but convenient storage options. This will ensure us that appliance garages will be more of a necessity in 2018.
